Carl "Sonny" N. Overmier, Jr., 78, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, December 3, 2021, at Toledo Healthcare.

He was born on June 22, 1943, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Carl N. and Laura (Burns) Overmier, Sr. On September 3, 1966, he married Jill R. Hughes, and she preceded him in death in 2017.

Survivors include his daughters, Sunrae (Curtis) Milgrim of Plymouth and Carleen (Todd) Gammon of New Riegel; sister, Laura Jean Wilson of Bloomville; and grandsons, Nick (Allie) Milgrim and Nate Milgrim.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant daughter, Melody Overmier; brothers, Daniel L. Overmier and Oliver A. "Butch" Overmier; and sister, Patricia Ann Atha.

Sonny was a member at Bloomville United Church of Christ, also a member at Tiffin Eagles #402 and Lifetime member of AmVets Post 48. He served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1965 before working at Hayes-Albion and later as a trackman for the B&O Railroad and later CSX for many years. He enjoyed baking the only cookies he would make, peanut butter cookies and sharing them with everyone, fishing, camping at Camp Seneca, Dart Ball Leagues, playing cards, family Texas Hold'em tournaments at Christmas, feeding his birds, trips to casinos and playing scratch offs. Carl was friendly and loved talking to everyone.  He especially enjoyed children, always giving them a dollar when he saw them.

His funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens with military honors by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
