Carl H. Staib, 84, of New Riegel, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 23, 2008, at Ruffing Family Care Center, Bloomville. On August 3, 1923, he was born in New Riegel to Harman G. and Donna E. (Von Blon) Staib. On January 25, 1948, he married Edith F. Groman.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Edith, three sons, Harvey C. (Sue) Staib of Tiffin, Henry R. (Sherri) Staib of Chateaugay, NY, and Calvin E. (Jane) Staib of New Riegel, a daughter, Carolyn E. Hare of Hereford, AZ, ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents are two sisters, Martha M. Staib and Catherine Bentz, and an infant grandson.

Carl was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where he was a former member of the church council. He was a retired dairy farmer and livestock hauler. He was a member of Seneca County Farm Bureau, Seneca County Fair Board for over 20 years, and supported the Junior Fair exhibitors by hauling livestock at no charge. He was a member of American Milking Short Horn Cattle Association, and received an honorary National FFA Degree. He enjoyed coon hunting, playing Euchre and attending fairs around the state.

The Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 1, 2008, at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Gary Proietti officiating.

Friends may visit with the family 9:30 - 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 1, 2008, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 10 Main St., Tiffin.
