Carolyn M. Gittinger, 82, of Melmore, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, at The Willows at Tiffin.
Carolyn was born in Fremont, Ohio on August 8, 1943, to G. Dale and Carol Irene (Sommers) King. On April 2, 1966, she married Randall Gittinger at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tiffin.
She is survived by her husband, Randy; son, Raymond (Ruby) Gittinger, of Tiffin; daughters, Frances (Danny) Shook, and Christa Daniel, both of Tiffin; sister, Patricia (William) Biller, of Tiffin; grandchildren, Gavin (Annabelle) Robison, Vivian Robison, Grant Shook; three bonus grandchildren, Shawn, Leslie, Cody; nephews, Jonathan Biller, Brian (Adannaya) Biller; and her good friend, Tracy Miesner.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Scott Daniel; and sister Colleen.
Carolyn was superintendent of Junior Fair Rabbit Department and a 4-H advisor for over 40 years and enjoyed traveling to judge 4-H projects for other counties. She was the Secretary of Sandusky Valley Rabbit Breeders Association. Carolyn spent many years in the church choir, was the church historian, and helped with the church connections ministry at St. Paul UMC. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge in Tiffin, Tiffin Eagles #402, and The Rebeccas in Melmore. Carolyn attended Tiffin University and was a Certified Professional Secretary. Carolyn didn't like to miss anything and loved attending her children's and grandchildren's school and sporting events. She was very interested in researching genealogy and loved music, band, and choir and played the flute in high school. She never met an animal she didn't like.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
Her funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge (Egberts) Cemetery.
