Obituary

Charlene Kay “Char” Distel, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.

She was born on June 15, 1942, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Edward and Dorothy (Black) Beisner. She married the love of her life and best friend, Dave “Whitey” Distel on August 31, 1963, in St. Mary Catholic Church and he survives.

Also surviving are her son, Howie (Stefanie) Distel of Grand Blanc, MI; daughter, Stacie (Jon) Meyer of Kettering; three grandchildren, Lexi Kay and Jake Distel, both of Holly, MI and Frank Meyer of Kettering; bonus grandchildren, Blake Somers, Tim Webster, Aly Webster, Charlee Cherniawski; great grandchild, Kolt Somers; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Leslie Beisner of Lafayette, CA; in-laws, Tom (Dee) Distel, Jerry (Blondie) Distel, Pat (Harry) Lucius, and Peg Distel. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nephews and all her friends were all blessings to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Char graduated from Columbian High School in 1960 and was instrumental in planning many class reunions through the years. She experienced career opportunities at American Standard, Sears, J.C. Penny, Dr. Paul J. France, Dr. S.P. Lowry and the Allen Eiry Senior Center. But her favorite jobs were being mother, grandmother and loving wife.

She taught calligraphy to Expanding Horizon children and was a Lamaze instructor to expectant parents. She belonged to several Euchre Clubs, Rummikub Club, Seneca County Historical Society and Fort Ball Antique Club.

Dinner and a movie was a favorite pastime with Whitey.

Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Old Trinity Episcopal Church, F.A.C.T. (financial aid for cancer treatment) or to Greater N.W. Ohio Diabetes Association Fund, 101 W. Sandusky Street, Suite 207, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
