Charles Edward Cooper, 71, Tiffin and formerly of Norwalk died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at The Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family.
On November 24, 1942, he was born in Norwalk to Louis and Irene (Blinzley) Cooper. He married Barbara A. Adelman on October 22, 1966 in St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk.
Survivors include his daughter, Kelli Dariano; sons Ty (Jennifer) Cooper and Chad (Polly) Cooper all of Tiffin; brother Larry (Jeanne) Cooper of Sioux Saint Marie, MI; sister in law, Barbara Cooper of Dunedin, FL; and five grandchildren, Breanne, Trenton, and Brody Cooper and Josephine and Finnegan Cooper.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and brothers Francis and James Cooper.
Chuck was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1960 graduate of St. Paul Catholic School in Norwalk and attended Bowling Green State University. He joined the U.S. Army in 1963, serving in Thailand and Vietnam until his discharge in 1966. He was a member of the AmVets Post 48, BPOE Elks of Tiffin, Lodge 94, Ducks Unlimited and Knights of Columbus Council 608, Arch Bishop Schrembs Assembly 4th Degree. Chuck began his career over 50 years ago in the jewelry industry in the late 1950's where he worked at the hometown jewelry store in Norwalk. After serving his country and attending college, he and Barbara moved their family to Tiffin in 1975 and continued his career and after 3 years, Chuck purchased Jeffrey Jewelry, Inc. He was a community leader, focused on giving back to the Tiffin area in many ways. He has served on many area boards and foundations including the Heritage Festival Board, Tiffin's Pride That Shows and the proud founder of the Tiffin Art Guild. His professionalism, generousity and kind heart influenced many people over the years. He will be missed.
Chuck was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time he had with his family and friends. Over the years, he enjoyed boating, fishing, playing card games, wintering in Florida for many years and most recently, spending time on his farm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with Military Honors by the Seneca County United Veteran's Council.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 2-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 419-447-2424. A Christian Wake will follow the visitation at 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools, Tiffin Art Guild, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
