Obituary

Charles L. Grine, 87, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday morning, April 17, 2014 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born on April 21, 1926 in Tiffin, Ohio, to Clarence and Mary (Scherger) Grine. He married Audrey Bish and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary A. Ratliff of Tiffin; 4 grandchildren, Sharon Ratliff, Barb Schaade, Vicky Bulkowski and Brenda Ratliff; 18 great grandchildren; 44 great, great grandchildren; and 1 expected great, great grandchild in July.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; son, Robert Grine in 1969; 2 brothers, Clete and Robert Grine; 2 sisters, Dolly and Marietta; one grandchild, Chester Ratliff; and one great grandchild.

Charles was in the United States Army from July 26, 1944 until August 17, 1946 during World War II and worked at American Standard for 43 years; retiring on May 31, 1986. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #402, V.F.W. Tiffin Post #2858 and Tiffin Moose Lodge #846. Charles enjoyed wintering in Florida for years, traveling and antiques.

His graveside service will be at 12:30 P.M. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Monday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
