Obituary

Charles Edward Haman, 78, of Tiffin, died Wednesday afternoon, July 1, 2009 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.

The youngest of seven children born to John P. and Agnes L. (Trausch) Haman on July 23, 1930 in Tiffin.

He is survived by his life partner of 46 years, Martha Ziegler of Tiffin, 2 sisters, Dorothy (Charles) Maher of Lakewood, CO; Sr. Clare Haman, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Margaret and Dorothy Haman and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers John and Paul Haman, sisters, Louise Akers and Mary Peters.

Charles was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1949. After high school he worked for Whittman Auto Sales until his enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1951. He spent most of his service time in the automotive field, stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in May 1953. In September 1953, he was employed at American Standard as a Mold Modeler until his retirement in December 1988.

Charles enjoyed traveling, horseracing, watching golf and tennis on the television and following the Cleveland Indians and Browns.

Over the last few months, Charles courageously battled his illness and remained at home. He recently moved to St. Francis Home in Tiffin and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home from 4-8 PM. A Wake Service will be at 3:30 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or Donor's Choice.
