Charles B. 'Parky' Parkins, 81, of Tiffin, died Monday morning, November 10, 2008, at his home.
August 27, 1927, he was born in Tiffin, to Boyd and Leona (Shelt) Parkins. May 24, 1947, he married Florence Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Florence, two sons, Dave (Audrey) Parkins of Ocala, FL, Tom (Theresa) Parkins of Oscela, IN, two daughters, Linda Caseman, Sue (Roger) Bare, both of Tiffin, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death along with his parents, are an infant daughter, Deborah Parkins, three brothers, Robert, Richard and James Parkins, two sisters, Kathryn Jurrus and Marjorie Lauer and a son-in-law, Jerry Caseman in 1993.
Charles was a graduated from Columbian High School in 1945 and Tiffin Business College. He had a 35 year career in banking as a loan officer at First National Bank and Citizens Savings and Loan, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 608, Lions Club, Tiffin T-Squares, Thomas Connor Commission and was the secretary for United Commercial Travelers for 20 years. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1945-1946. Parky enjoyed cards, wood working, building and flying model airplanes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 14, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Military Graveside services conducted by the United Veteran's Council.
Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St.,Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424. A Christian wake service will be 1:45 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Community Hospice Care.
