IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chris M.
Ward
December 9, 1954 – November 2, 2015
Chris M. Ward, 60, of Sycamore, passed away on Monday morning, November 2, 2015 at his home.
Chris was born on December 9, 1954, in Tiffin, Ohio, to August and Dorothy (Bibbee) Ward. On July 11, 1975, in St. Mary Catholic Church, he married Mary Stover.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Tiffin; son, Jacob (Kristi) Ward of Sycamore; two daughters, Emily (Andy) Wagner of Denver, CO and Abby (Jason) Wilson of Columbus; three grandchildren, Isaac and Molly Ward and Vivian Wilson; and two sisters, Lucy Euvrard of Hamilton and Margie (Ron) Hull of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Dorothy Ward and infant sister, Elizabeth Ward.
Chris graduated from Mohawk High School in 1973, was a member of St. Pius X, Sycamore and retired from Freeman Company in Fremont, Ohio in 2009. He was a member and past Treasurer of the Melmore Boosters and volunteered Wednesdays and Sundays for Bingo for seven years. He was a little league coach and girl's softball coach at Melmore, and was part of a small group of people that started doing maintenance to make the ball fields better equipped and safe for the kids to have a nice place to play summer baseball and softball. Chris played football at Mohawk High School and followed the team for years, even after his own children graduated. He enjoyed and looked forward to reminiscing about the football games with his friends that had played together in the 70's. It was as if they played the game the night before.
He loved to play volleyball in the front yard, have family and friends over on the 4th of July for a backyard BBQ and fireworks that he loved to shoot off, and loved making apple cider with his cider press. Chris was a Cleveland Browns fan and Ohio State Buckeye fan.
He enjoyed playing Euchre at the K of C with his son, bowling in the Sycamore bowling league with his friends and riding his Honda Gold Wing Trike. He also loved plowing the garden with his dad's 1946 Farmall H tractor, working in the garden to keep the weeds outs, digging potatoes, sweet potatoes and peanuts and he loved animals; especially his black lab, Brady, and his cat, Ginny, who would only jump up in his lap and sleep. Chris always went to his children's events supporting them and was proud of them no matter what they did or accomplished. He always worked hard to provide for his family, was a loyal friend to all, and was a kind, gentle and loving husband, father and grandfather.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
