Clara E. "Bess" Harshman, 92, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday evening, September 4, 2012 at Blanchard Valley Hospital.
She was born on February 15, 1920, in Gibsonburg, Ohio, to Leo A. and Eda (Bauer) Foos. She married Joseph P. Alleman and he preceded her in death. She then married Frederick "Fritz" Lufitz and he preceded her in death. She married Paul Harshman, on February 5, 1971, and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Jim (Sharon) Alleman of Toledo, Ohio; two daughters, Judy (Richard) Kisaberth of Republic and Terry Walker of Tiffin; 3 sisters, Georgia Pertner of Gibsonburg, Ohio; Ursula Jane (Loren) Nowak of Elmore, OH, and Edith (Lloyd) Munson of Fort Laramie, WY; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons, David L. Alleman and Thomas P. Alleman; 3 brothers, John and James Foos and infant brother, Charles Foos; 6 sisters, Madonna Mathews, Agnes Holland, Patricia Ward, Emma Reinbolt, Rita Schlea and Mary Gillow; and 2 grandchildren, Jenny Alleman and Chad Kisaberth.
Bess was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She sang in the choir at church for 25 years and was a member of the Rosary Alter Society. Bess enjoyed her monthly gathering with her sisters and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren; giving them lots of attention. She volunteered for many years and enjoyed taking care of others. Bess always kept everyone in her prayers.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 8:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Calvert Catholic Schools.
