Conghetti "Mary" Kerschner, 87, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, November 9, 2013 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin with family beside her.
On May 29, 1926 in Tiffin, she was born to Paul and Antoinette (Perna) Panuto. She married Karl A. Kerschner on June 14, 1947 in St. Mary Catholic Church.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters in law, Mike (JoElla) Kerschner of Tiffin; Dave (Sharyn) Kerschner of Cranbury, NJ; Denny (Julie) Kerschner of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Karl, John, Chris, Kevin, Scott, Matt, Josh, and Katie, nine great grandchildren, sisters, Nina Shireman of Lafayette, IN; Rosemary (Paul "Moe") Creutz of Walbridge, OH; Carmella Hufford of Tiffin; sisters in law, Mary Panuto, Lucille Kerschner, Virginia Kerschner, Betty Ott all of Tiffin; brother and sister in law, Duane and Janet Kerschner of Kansas; and her dog, Polly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Karl on July 2, 1997; seven year old son, Karly; three brothers, Joe, John and Dominic Panuto; sisters in law, Jackie and Marge Panuto; brother in law, Jack Hufford; and a grandson, Timothy David Kerschner.
Conghetti was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she attended Mass daily and a 1945 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, St. Mary Church Choir, Eucharistic Minister and life-long minister to the sick and taught religion to migrant workers in the area for many years. She loved being homemaker and was a cafeteria worker for Tiffin City Schools, retiring in 1983. Karl and Conghetti spent 50 wonderful years together as husband and wife, raising a family, traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia, visiting family when they could. Her commitment to God, church and family was a testament to all that knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery following the mass.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. A Christian Wake Service will be at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Raise the Roof Campaign, Calvert Catholic Schools, or F.A.C.T.
