David D. Aiello, 71, of Tiffin, passed away Monday afternoon, March 31, 2014 at his home.
On August 2, 1942 in San Antonio, TX; he was born to Dominic and Stella (Bartsch) Aiello.
Survivors include two sons, David A. (Patricia) Aiello of Tiffin, OH; Dominic J. Aiello of Wooster, OH; five daughters, Jocelynn M. Aiello of Tiffin, OH; Gina M. Denune of Bridgewater, MA; Andrea M. Gillison of Tiffin, OH; Francesca M. (Joe) Flood of Upper Sandusky, OH; Angelina (Brandon) Gaskins of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren and two sisters, Patricia (Harold) Bickley, Sr. and Mariann Aiello both of Tiffin,OH and a granddog, Ari.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a 1960 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on July 29, 1960 where he was a sergeant and served in Vietnam two times before being honorably discharged on July 26, 1968. For many years he worked in Findlay for Prudential and Metropolitan Life insurance companies. A devoted blood, sweat and tears Chicago sports fan, he had a love for baseball, playing baseball, coaching in the Babe Ruth League and scoring his favorite teams. He was passionate about life and very proud of his family's Italian German Heritage; enjoying Pasta Sunday's and he did everything to the extreme, including couponing. David will be remembered as a funny guy with a great sense of humor and a kind and sharing person who donated to many organizations when they needed help. He enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and watching classic movies. Politics and history were an integral part of his life... but more, much more than this "I did it my way".
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Kishore Kottana officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 5-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
