Obituary

Dr. David Jones, a respected business leader, passionate entrepreneur, proud Army veteran, and a cherished friend to many, passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 76.  Born March 06, 1948, in Fremont, Ohio, David grew up with a deep sense of family and community.  He graduated from Hopewell-Loudon High School and later earned a PH.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University in 1976.

David proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, during which he was awarded the National Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Medal.  His military service was a point of pride and reflected his lifelong dedication to excellence and discipline.

David made a lasting impact in the world of business as a visionary in human resources and consulting.  He founded HRStrategies, a leading global HR consulting firm, and worked with Fortune 500 companies and government agencies to reshape talent acquisition, employee engagement, and compliance practices.  His role as worldwide head of HR consulting services for Aon-Hewitt and his leadership at Growth Ventures Inc. and HirePayoff highlighted his commitment to innovation.  He was also the author of Million Dollar Hire:  Build Your Bottom Line, One Employee at a Time, a book that showcased his expertise in hiring practices and organizational growth.  His career touched countless lives, and his contributions to the field will leave a lasting legacy.

David was also an avid traveler, with a particular fondness for Ireland, which became his second home.  In the serene landscapes and rich culture of Ireland, he found peace and solace.  His trips there were a source of personal renewal, where he embraced both the history and beauty of the country.  Throughout his life, David had the loyal companionship of dogs, including Rudi, whose presence brought him great joy and comfort.  Their companionship reflected David's loving and compassionate nature.

David is survived by his brothers, Timothy (Gloria) Jones and Paul M. (Teresa) Jones; his great friend, Sherri (Gayheart) Jones; and nephews, Keith and Jay; nieces, Staci and Nikki; and many friends and associates.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruehle; his father, Paul J. Jones; his stepfather, John Ruehle; his wife, Leslie; his sister, Jean Reas; and brothers, Jimmy and Richard, who died in infancy.

David's legacy will live on not just in his professional achievements, but in the way he loved, cared and lived with integrity.  His influence in business will be felt for years, but the way he cherished the simple joys of life—whether through his work, his travels, or his time with loved ones—will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
