David J. Kummerer, 73, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday evening, May 5, 2016 at St. Francis Home.
He was born on November 2, 1942, in Tiffin, to Cletus and Leona (Schetter) Kummerer. On November 3, 1962, in San Diego, he married Norma M. Rogier and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2012.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly (William) Matheny of Tiffin and Laura Louder of FL; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, Tom Kummerer of Tiffin; four sisters, Barb (Charles) Harvey of Gibsonburg; Diane (John) Beaverson of Bowling Green; Jane (Dan) Bush of Tiffin; and Martha (Charles) Gibson of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Norma.
David graduated in 1960 from Tiffin Calvert and served in the United States Navy from September 14, 1960 to October 28, 1963 aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderosa. He worked for Whirlpool for over 30 years and later retired. He was a member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge 846 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 402. Dave enjoyed restaurants, history, camping and fishing at Lake Erie, riding his Harley Davidson and attending area car shows with his Ford Galaxy. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking with everyone.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Kishore Kottana officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The United Veterans Council at the graveside will conduct military honors.
