David G. Theis, 53, of New Riegel, passed away Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016 in the Emergency Room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
He was born on December 19, 1962, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Alvin and Vanetta (Schalk) Theis. On October 28, 2006, he married Penny Sue Saalman.
Survivors include his wife, Penny of New Riegel; his children, Amy (Greg) Zumberger of Minster, Katie (Andy) Brickner of New Riegel and Chelsea (John Snodgrass) Jacobs of Findlay; three brothers, Robert E. (Nancy) Theis and Joseph A. (Rebecca) Theis, both of Fostoria and Steven F. (Patricia) Theis of Tiffin; and four grandchildren, Eli and Ivy Zumberger, Mckenzie Theis and Myla Brickner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin in 1996 and Vanetta in 2010; and two sisters, Virginia M. Theis in 1997 and Marlene A. Hartman in 2010.
David graduated from New Riegel High School in 1981 and from Terra Tech with an Associate's Degree in computer science. Most recently, David worked at Lucius Fence for the past nine years and prior to that, he worked at Riegel Divisions and Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services. He was also part-owner, along with his sister Marlene, of TNT Pizza in New Riegel and Sycamore. David was a member of the New Riegel Moose Lodge 872, was a very talented craftsman, as he could fix and build anything and he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass.
Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Riegel NBS Fire District or to a charity of the donor's choice.
