David Richard Vaughn, 28, of Bascom, passed away on Saturday morning, December 17, 2016 after a long-time struggle with addiction.

He was born on May 31, 1988, in Tiffin to Gerald "Jerry" and Carol (Kuhn) Vaughn.

Survivors include his parents, Gerald and Carol Vaughn of Bascom; sisters, Julie (Fred) Reinhart of Fostoria and Lindsay Vaughn of Chicago, IL; grandmother, Patricia Vaughn of New Riegel; two nephews, Mason and Parker Reinhart and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Danielle Vaughn, grandparents, Martha and Charles Kuhn, Richard Vaughn; cousin, Ian Kuhn, and aunt Donna Vaughn.

David will be remembered for his legendary smile and genuine personality. He gave the best hugs and was a loyal person who will be remembered for being there for those who needed him. David was a very talented welder and fabricator. He spent a lot of time in his dad's shop building things and working on cars. He liked to listen and sing along to country music. He cared about his appearance and took extra time daily to ensure he was well "put together". He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time at the lake boating and camping with his family. He also liked to fish, hunt and hang out with his trusty hound dog, Red. David will be missed by many, many friends who he would do anything for. He was an amazing uncle who had unbelievable love, patience and adoration for his two nephews, Mason and Parker. Addiction is a disease. It isn't a matter of bad people that need to become good, it's a matter of sick people needing to become well. Every heroin addict will quit using ... it will either be on their own terms or on heroin's terms. David will never be forgotten and always loved.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery at a later date.
