Deacon Daniel L. Scherger, 57, of Tiffin, OH passed away Thursday morning, July 14, 2011 at his home.

On January 4, 1954, he was born to William L. & Christine J. (Vondenberg) Scherger and they are deceased.

Surviving is a brother, William D. Scherger of Tiffin, Ohio.

Daniel was a 1972 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and graduated from Tiffin University with a Bachelor in Business Administration in 1994. He volunteered for the Babe Ruth League as an umpire from 1974-1995 and held the following positions during that time; tournament director, secretary/treasurer and president. He also was involved with the Seneca County Pony League from 1996-2000 and was the tournament director and secretary/treasurer. He was the St. Joseph Parish CYO Athletic director from 1984-1991. Dan volunteered and was a board member for Seneca Habitat for Humanity. He won the Diocese of Toledo "For God And Youth" award in 1990.

Visitation will be Monday, July 18, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, OH with vespers offered at 4:00 P.M.

A mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
