Delbert R. Smith, Sr., 68, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday, February 03, 2026 at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.

He was born on August 27, 1957, in Tiffin, Ohio to Eugene and Patricia (Ferree) Smith. Delbert and Janice D. Chinell were spiritually married for over 30 years.

Survivors include his son, Delbert R. (Dianne) Smith, Jr. of McComb; daughters, Owanna (Israel) Ortiz, Donnell Smith and Betty Smith, all of Tiffin; sister, Jessica (David) Polhamus of Michigan; sister-in-law, Doris Elaine McFerren of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice D. Chinell; and sister, Gina Bentley.

Delbert graduated in 1976 from Columbian High School. He was a bonder operator at Teijin Automotive Technologies. Delbert was a member of Republic United Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, flea markets, saving money, riding around in his truck, liked to party and loved his dog, Patches. Delbert was a hard worker and a great father figure.

His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 09, 2026 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Darla Metz officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family from 1-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 08, 2026 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Republic United Church of Christ, Bridge Hospice Care or to the UAW 1803.
