IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis C.
Lofay
February 28, 1955 – November 13, 2024
Dennis "Denny" C. Lofay, 69, New Riegel, was called home to his heavenly father at 5:03am Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at OSU James Cancer Center. He was surrounded by his beautiful wife and loving family.
Denny was born on February 28, 1955 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Carl and Rosemary (Hoerig) Lofay. Denny is survived by his sisters; Deborah (Mike) Seitz and Carla (Jeff) Lust. He is proceeded in death by his brother-in-law, Dennis, brothers; Joe and Bruce - and identical twin brother, Donny - to whom Denny always looked up to.
Denny was a 1973 graduate of Columbian High School. After high school Denny ventured into automotive bodywork, a trade that he loved and carried with him his entire life. After Denny and Carol bought their home outside of Tiffin, Denny began working for Lenny Kirian Ditching and often referred to himself as a D.A.D., as he chuckled. There was never a job too dirty for Denny, as long as he could provide for his wife and family.
In the early 1980s, Denny met the love of his life, Carol (Arbogast). A woman that would forever ground him into the simple and peaceful life they were so blessed to share together. They married on September 25, 1982, surrounded by more than 500 of their closest family and friends. They welcomed three children: Nathan (Anna Giles), Andrea (Michael Black) and Danielle (Jared Kuhlman) and watched the family expand with Camdyn, Rya and Willow - three gorgeous grand babies he adored. In August 2011, a horrific auto accident forever changed Denny and Carol's life. A tragedy that spawned Denny into a deep and peaceful bond with the Lord. A bond that he carried with him until the day he could no longer inhabit his physical body here on earth.
The Advertiser-Tribune, which he read daily, does not have enough pages to summarize Denny Lofay. It's impossible to put his courageous existence into words. He was a man's man. A personality larger than life. He could be equal parts strong-willed, stubborn, ornery, affectionate and care-free. He loved his wife. He loved his kids. He worked hard. He played harder. He laughed, a lot! You rarely saw him without a beer in hand. Because of Donny, no ache or pain could ever bother him. He loved to tease. He loved to coach. He loved to golf. He loved to infect people with his joy of life and love for the Lord. He was friend to many and to many, a dear friend. And every day he was, "happy to be here".
Denny's departure leaves an irreplaceable void for so many and concludes a love story with Carol that only few will ever experience in their lifetime. His loved ones find solace, knowing he is flying high with no pain and in the arms of his Creator. He lives on in so many hearts across the community and every Green Genessee Cream Ale Can you see. So, when the breeze brings a scent of smoked meats, fresh garden produce, Old Spice or Jim Beam Peach; may those that loved him know that his soul is free and everything will be "hunky-dory." Oh, and "God Loves Ya".
His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.
