Obituary

Dominic A. Panuto, 89, of Tiffin, passed away, Monday, September 12, 2011 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born August 1, 1922 in Tiffin, OH to Paul & Marie (Perna) Panuto. He married Marjorie Shuey on August 30, 1945 in St. Mary Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on October 21, 2001.

Surviving are two sons; Steve (Jan) Panuto of Tiffin, OH and Jeff (Carol) Panuto of Columbus, OH; sisters; Nina Shireman of IN, Carmella (Jack) Hufford, Mary Panuto and Conghetti Kerschner all of Tiffin and Rose Mary (Moe) Cruetz of Wallbridge, OH; three grandchildren, Chris, Amy & Thomas Panuto; 7 great-grandchildren, Gene, Guss, Ryan, Gretchen, Brandon, Courtney and Larry Lee and one great-great grandson, Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; John and Joe Panuto and one sister, Jackie Panuto.

Dominic was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was a communion distributor since 1971. He was co-owner of Tiffin Electric Shoe Shop in downtown Tiffin and was a master shoe repairman, retiring in 1993 after forty years. He was a past member of Am Vets Post #48 and Eagles Aerie #402 and was a member of the K of C 4th Degree. He enjoyed playing Euchre and bowling on the Holy Name League team at the K of C. Dominic loved church and his family, especially all his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his great-great grandchild.

A mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 15 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council. The Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419)447-2424. A Christian Wake service will begin at 3:30 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Calvert Catholic Schools or United Veterans Council of Seneca County.
