Dominic G. Ranieri, 89, of Tiffin, passed away Monday morning, March 21, 2011 at his home.
On May 11, 1921 in Du Bois, Pa; he was born to Julio and Angela (Ronda) Ranieri.
He married Rita Schock October 21, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rita, daughters Jane (William) Ranieri-Phillips of Toledo, OH; Maria V. (Terence) Robinson of Rutherglen, VA; sons Dr. Paul W. (Lynn) Ranieri of Muncie, IN; Chris J. (Susan) Ranieri of Tiffin; Dr. Gerard J. (Mary Beth) Ranieri of Woodbridge,VA.; Retired Major Anthony W. (Amy) Ranieri of TX; brothers; Anthony (Eleanor) Ranieri of Denver, CO; Albert (Shirley) Ranieri of Camphill, PA; a sister, Jean Monella of Du Bois, PA; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Dominic C., sisters Theresa Gavafolo and Ida Minns, brothers James and Paul Ranieri, and a granddaughter, Rebecca Ranieri.
Dominic was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1940 graduate of Sandy Township High School and Du Bois Business College. He was a board member and treasurer of the Easter Seals, Seneca County Commission on Aging and Babe Ruth Little League Baseball. Dominic worked as a Deputy Clerk for the Seneca County Auditor in 1962 and started Dominic Ranieri Inc. and Notary Public in 1968. He enjoyed his career as an accountant for area businesses for many years. He was a dedicated Detroit Tigers fan since 1934. Dominic and his wife loved to travel the world, especially their visit to the Vatican where they met Pope John Paul II. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather attending many sporting events supporting his family.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3-8 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH. 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Wake will begin at 8:00 pm at the funeral home on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Community Hospice Care or to Eternal World Television Network.
