Donald E. “Don” Arter, Jr., 72, of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, May 06, 2026 at Autumnwood Care Center.
Don was born on March 7, 1954, in Tiffin, Ohio to Donald and Martha (Snyder) Arter, Sr. He married LuAnn Huffman on October 6, 1973 in Monroe, MI.
Survivors include his daughter, Lora (Rick) Stombaugh of Republic; daughter-in-law, Machael Arter of Massillon; three grandson’s, Cody (Alyssa) Stombaugh of Bremerton, WA, Austin (girlfriend, Madison Wagner) Stombaugh of Tiffin, and Domonic Arter of Massillon; two great grandchildren, Emilia Stombaugh and Cody Stombaugh, both of Bremerton, WA; his mom, Martha Arter of Tiffin; brother, Dan (Lisa) Arter of Zanesville; two sister’s, Deb Hyde of Tiffin and Diana (Rob) Martin of Fremont; five brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; lots of nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LuAnn (Huffman); son, Donny Arter III; dad, Donald Arter, Sr.; father-in-law, Rex Huffman Sr.; mother-in-law, Grace (Jackson) Huffman; and three brothers-in-law, Len Steyer, Rex Huffman Jr. and Jeff Sleasman.
Don was very proud of his children and grandchildren quite often talking about them to everyone. He was a big OSU fan and enjoyed the rivalry with his children, son-in-law and grandsons. Don enjoyed a good card game of either Euchre or UNO, along with surfing the internet. Don was very strong in his faith and was a member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church in Tiffin.
Friends may visit with the family from 9-10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Hoffman-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Graveside service will be at 10:30 A.M. at Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Phil Moerdyk officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Seneca County.
