Obituary

Donald D. 'Don' Rennels, 82, of Tiffin, died Wednesday evening, July 29, 2009, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

April 26, 1927, he was born in Charleston, IL, to Theodore and Grace (Garrison) Rennels. September 9, 1950, he married Janet Osgood.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janet, two sons, Garry (Melissa) Rennels of Old Fort, Craig (Linda) Rennels of Findlay, a daughter, Linda (Paul) Schleuniger of Wildomar, CA, a brother, Marion (Rita) Rennels of Westfield Center, a brother-in-law, Harold (Maggi) Osgood of Lambertville, MI, six grandchildren, Will (Tyfanie) Rennels, Emma Rennels, Lydia Rennels, Nathan Spoon, Alyssa & Hailee Rennels.

Preceding him in death along with his parents are six brothers, Glen, Robert, Paul, Lowell, Wayne and Kenneth and three sisters, Dorothy Eichman, Virginia Ray, and Pauline Rennels.

Don attended The University of Toledo and graduated from Bowling Green State University. He proudly served in the US Army from 1945-1948 and started his career as an Industrial Arts teacher in Wayne, and then worked for Westfield Insurance Company, co-owning United Insurance Service in 1967 until retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Lions Club, BPOE Elks of Tiffin Lodge 94, American Legion Post 169 and was past president of the Tiffin YMCA. Don was a past Tiffin Columbian Band and Athletic Booster and enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

The family of Don would like to give special thanks to the entire staff at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center for the loving care he received.

His memorial service will be 2:30 PM, Saturday, August 1, 2009 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 46 Madison St., with Rev. Barbara Silversmith officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bedford Twp. Cemetery, Temperance, MI.

Friends may visit with the family 1:30 - 2:30 PM, Saturday, August 1, 2009, at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
