Donald G. "Don" Fox, 87, of Sycamore, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 19, 2014 at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 10, 1927, in Tiffin, Ohio to Nelson O. and Helen M. (Unger) Fox. On October 30, 1950, he married Mary E. Shaffer and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2007.

Survivors include his daughter, Pamela (Mark Romanko) Fox of Sycamore; son Timothy (Whitney) Fox of Kenton; 2 sisters, Joyce Layne of Findlay and Mary Jane Fox of Tiffin; 2 grandchildren, Amanda (Derrick) Mullholand and Kelly Dininger; and one great granddaughter on the way.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Fox; infant twin daughters, Betty and Judy, an infant daughter; sister, Joan Gibson; and 2 brothers-in-law, Wayne Gibson and Norman Layne.

After high school, Don voluntarily went in the Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1947. He worked at Grabler, Tiffin Glass, National Machinery, Webster and was the owner of Fox Lumber in Sycamore; retiring in 1992. Don was a current member of the American Legion Post 250 in Sycamore and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was an avid golfer and had two eagles at Seneca Hills Golf Course, including two in two consecutive weeks during leagues.

His funeral service will be at 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Matthew Garrabrant officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home.
