Donald E. “Don” Johnson, 86, of McCutchenville, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Westbrook Assisted Living, Upper Sandusky.
He was born on May 19, 1940, in Frostburg, MD, to Ralph and Luella (Crook) Johnson. On August 31, 1963, he married Ruth Hassinger and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2025.
Survivors include his son, Aaron (Crystal) Johnson of Sycamore; son-in-law, Julius Wurm of Shelby; sisters, Loraine “Sis” Miller of Maryland and Viola (Raymond) Wolford of WV; half brothers, Raymond Johnson of Florida, Jamie Johnson and Kenny Johnson both of Maryland; and grandchildren, Bryce Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Riley Johnson, and Destiny Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynnette Wurm; and brother Gerald Johnson.
Don graduated from Mt. Savage High School in Maryland, the College of Automation of Kansas City, Missouri, and the College of the Electronic Computer Program Institute of America. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War for three years. Early on in his career he worked at the Tiffin Developmental Center and then was a driver license examiner and supervisor for the Ohio State Highway Patrol for 33 years. Don served as a Chaplain for the Seneca County Chaplain Corp and went on mission trips for many years to Honduras.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene attending Upper Sandusky Church of the Nazarene for the past few years. Don enjoyed hunting, sports, playing softball, gardening, being outdoors, and spending time with his grandkids most of all.
His funeral service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 06, 2026, at Tiffin First Church of the Nazarene, 777 East Township Road 201, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 with Pastor Steve Anstine officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens with Military Honors being conducted by the New Riegel American Legion Post 354.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 A.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County Chaplain Corp or to the Tiffin First Church of the Nazarene.
