Donald "Don" W. Montz, 83, of Tiffin, died Saturday morning March 14, 2009 at his residence.

On December 9, 1925, he was born to Herbert and Mildred (Feagles) Montz in Melmore.

He married Jean Borer on April 30, 1949, and she survives.

Survivors include his wife Jean, sons, Dennis (Carol) Montz of Toledo, James (Betty) Montz of Tiffin, Larry (LuAnn) Montz of Carey, Brian Montz of Tiffin, daughters, Barb (Randy) Cooper of Avon Lake, Lynn (Tim) Ardner of Tiffin, brother Bill Montz of FL, sisters, Doris Wertz, Betty (Jerry) Rhoad, Carolyn (Don) Wellman, all of Tiffin, Marian Vondenberg, Helen Cline, Frances (Jerry) Garn, Cathryn (Gene) Biller, all of FL, fourteen grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death is his parents, and brothers Jim and Bob Montz.

Don graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1943. He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 - 1946 in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Don worked at General Electric for 38 years as a Foreman, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Knights of Columbus #608, American Legion- Sycamore Post #250, Tiffin Moose Lodge #846, AmVets Post #48, and Tiffin Eagles Aerie #402. Most importantly, he enjoyed raising his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military Graveside Services conducted by the United Veteran's Council.

Friends may visit with the family 4-8pm Monday, March 16, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, 419-447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will be 3:45pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, St. Mary Catholic Church, or to the Donor's Choice.
