On March 19, 1925, she was born in Canton, to Oscar and Gladys (Hutchinson) Heistand. On November 21, 1969, she married Eugene E. DeMerchant in Ann Arbor, MI. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1989.
She is survived by two nieces, Lynn Nicholson of Sanford, MI; and Terri Gowin, of Cuyahoga Falls; other nieces and nephews; Mr. T, her kitty; the Wiggins, Opp, and Tom's family and many other friends who helped her out. She is preceded in death by a sister, Roselyn.
Marie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and previously worked at Fort Ball Pizza, Knight Hotel, babysat and cared for the elderly. She was an Eagles Auxiliary member, and former trustee and chaplain of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She would like to thank David Conley, Passport, Rebecca and her caregiver, Desiray.
Dora was a kind soul that loved to feed the ducks, cats and critters at Kiwanis Manor. She said the Manor was the nicest place she ever lived and had the best neighbors. She will be missed by her many friends at the clubs.
We would like to thank Marie's many friends who made her life easier. Special thanks to Kiwanis Manor employees and residents, SCAT, Mercy ICU, Autumnwood, (Crystal, Tammy, Evelyn and the kitchen staff) and Hospice. If we don't know exactly who you are, God does.
