Obituary

Doris Pauline Chinell, 79, formerly of Tiffin, died Wednesday morning, Christmas Eve, December 24, 2008, at Fox Run Manor Nursing Home, Findlay.

She was born August 3, 1929, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, to John E. and Gussie F. (Wingard) Shofstahl. December 23, 1950, she married John Edward Chinell in St. John United Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Elaine (Martin) McFerren and Janice Diane (Delbert Smith) Chinell, both of Tiffin, a brother, Donald E. (Theresa) Shofstahl, of Tiffin, a niece, Sharon Ruth (Claude) Wepler-Frankart of Lima, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband, John on May 31, 2001, are a brother, John c. Shofstahl, a sister, Ruth Wepler, and a niece, Karen Wepler.

Janice was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, its Mid-day Fellowship, Ruth Circle, was very active with Sunday School Classes and was past superintendent of the Cradle Roll. Even after her move to Fox Run Manor, she remained active in the Prayer Chain. She provided private daycare in her home and was a former daycare provider for the Department of Job and Family Services. She was very active with FISH of Tiffin since its establishment.

A Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Proietti officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family 2-7 PM, Monday, December 29, 2008, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John United Church of Christ, Bridge Home Health & Hospice, FISH or a charity of the donor's choice.
