Doris M. Miller-Courtney, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday evening, November 17, 2015 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born on March 3, 1927, to Jesse and Edna (Weinandy) Steyer. On August 21, 1948, she married Phillip J. Miller and he preceded her in death in 1989. She married Thomas E. Courtney on November 9, 1991 and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Survivors include three sons, Ron Miller of Galena, Daniel E. "Spud" (Judy) Miller and Jeff G. "Chipper" (Cathy) Miller, both of New Riegel; daughter Judy (Ron) Reinhart of Tiffin; two stepsons, Tom E. (Kathleen) Courtney, II of Tiffin and Harold S. (Nancy) Courtney of New Riegel; sister, Norma Welter of Tiffin; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, John Miller in 1970; brothers, Arthur and John Steyer; sister, Martha Kiczek; and four great grandchildren.
Doris graduated in 1945 from Hopewell Loudon High School and was a member of SS Patrick & Andrew Church, Bascom. She was a nurse's aide in the OB department at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin for over 10 years, worked at Gem, Mfg. in Bascom and retired from Golden Acres Turkey. Doris was a member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge #846 and enjoyed ceramics, baking, collecting Precious Moments and she had a great sense of humor.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at SS Patrick & Andrew Church, Bascom with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 3:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kiwanis Manor Activities Fund, Good Shepherd Nursing Home Activities Fund, Community Hospice Care or to SS Patrick & Andrew Church, Bascom.
