Dorothy Rowena Kimmel, 96, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, August 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by family.

On January 6, 1916 in Bucyrus, she was born to Herbert Ross and Anna Marie (Strub) Hutchinson. She married Wayne A. Kimmel on May 27, 1934 in Kentucky.

Survivors include her daughters, Margy (Dick Dewald) Wenner of Tiffin; Della (Karl) Lenhart of Attica; sons, James (Joanne) Kimmel of Tiffin; Donald (Clarice) Kimmel of Los Angeles, CA; Gene (Barbara) Kimmel of Findlay; sisters in law, Frances Brashares of Fairborn, OH; Karla Hutchinson of New London, WI; 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne in 1992; brothers, Max and Robert Hutchinson and a sister, Colleen Shuman.

Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, the Keenagers group and a 1933 graduate of Carey High School. She worked for the Seneca County Election Board for over 35 years and volunteered at church with the FISH food pantry, Heritage Festival and was a charter member of the Tiffin Columbian Band Boosters. She enjoyed baking, needlework, and will be remembered for her candy she made around the holidays. Dorothy and Wayne traveled to 49 states and Canada, camped and were members of the Coachmen Travel Club.

Her funeral service will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 5-8 PM and on Thursday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, FISH food pantry in care of the church, or Community Hospice Care.
