Dorothy E. Reiter, 89, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday evening, May 4, 2011 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

On December 3, 1921 in Tiffin, she was born to Anthony and Daisy "Marie" (Hakes) Scherger. She married Andy Cardenas and they later divorced. She married Richard Reiter and he preceded her in death in 1992.

Survivors include a son, Andy (Brenda) Cardenas of Tiffin; daughters, Virginia Cardenas of Orange, CA; Susan Mang of Santa Ana, CA; Jane (Fred) Rachal of Orange, CA; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Charles, Norbert, Ralph, and Ray Scherger; sisters, Helen Burd, Rosemary Baker, and Norma Jean Schwochow.

Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1939 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. She retired from Haefling Printing after 30 years. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, and the Y-Wives craft show.

Her funeral service will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 10:00 am at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Bascom.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
