IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas A.
Skeel
May 5, 1945 – July 14, 2013
Douglas A. "Doug" Skeel, 68, of Tiffin, completed his journey on Sunday evening, July 14, 2013 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
On May 5, 1945 in Pennsylvania, he was born to Stanley and Isabel (Dornan) Skeel. He married his soul mate, Sharon Kuhn on December 24, 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of 34 years, daughters, Roxanne (Denny) Gribben and their son, Grant of Tiffin; Kelly (Marc) Watcke and their daughter Hannah of West Palm Beach, FL; sons, Steve Skeel and his sons, Brian and Matt; and Jeff Skeel; brothers, Dennis, Gary, and Brian and a sister, Pat Olenik.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Dick and Larry; and grandson, Garrett Watcke.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where he volunteered and was a 1963 graduate of Green Springs High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country from 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1966.
He started working at Seneca Environmental where he met Sharon after an airplane ride and then worked for Tiffin Aire since 1998 until last Monday, July 8, 2013. Doug was still working after his lung transplant 17 years ago; he had a great work ethic. On March 17, 1973, he received his private pilot license. He loved airplanes, model airplanes and model railroads. Doug was a peer counselor, caring for others in the same situation as him and he walked his path with faith and obedience. His passion for life was flying, working for Tiffin Aire and spending time with his family. His achievements were many; but being a grandfather to Hannah and Grant was a dream come true since he had a lung transplant and did not know if it was going to be possible. But most of all he was a very faithful and loving husband to Sharon. They spent over 34 years of marriage together and were best friends as well as husband and wife.
There will be no visitation at this time and a memorial service will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
