Edna M. "Honey" Nye, 90, of New Riegel, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

She was born on November 5, 1924, to Oscar and Rosella (Peters) Elchert. On July 31, 1948, in St. Boniface Parish, she married Donald G. Nye.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Donald G; sons, Dale (Dawn) Nye and Roger (Maryann) Nye, both of New Riegel; 4 daughters, Carolyn (Carl) Schalk of New Riegel, Linda (Florian) Reinhart of Fostoria, Bonnie (Steve) Hohman of McCutchenville and Regina (Dave) Wagner of Alvada; son-in-law, Ken (Linda) Bowers of Tiffin; 29 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jane Bowers in 1993; brothers, Urban and Cletus Elchert; two sisters, Josephine Theis and Mildred Gillig; and infant grandson, Anthony Lee Schalk.

Honey graduated in 1942 from New Riegel High School, worked at General Electric and enjoyed farming with her husband. She was a member of All Saints Parish where she was a Mass escort, a bulletin stuffer and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the New Riegel Moose #872 and enjoyed gardening.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass at church. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
