Edward A. Daniel, 72, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 24, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.
On January 28, 1946 in Tiffin, he was born to Victor J. and Lena (Schock) Daniel. He married Shirley B. Nye on January 27, 1968 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Alvada and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2000. He then married Paula (Hoffman) Militello on December 27, 2003 in St. Ann Catholic Church in Fremont and she survives in Tiffin.
Ed and Shirley raised four wonderful girls, Amy (Tony) Lombardi of Milan; Sara (Ron) Brown of Tiffin; Jackie (Mike) Ewald of Stow ; Gwen (Brian) Weikert of Westerville and their 13 children, Colin, Danica, Nick, Jacob, Mitchell, Hannah, Parker, Andy, Allison, Daniel, Ellen, Gabe and Owen. After marrying Paula, his family grew even larger with Paula's children, Vincent (Karla) Militello of Fremont; Michael (Lori) Militello of Lakewood; Patrick (Heather) Militello of Fremont; Suzanne (Glen McFeaters) Wilkins of Fairview Park and their 10 children, Nicholas, Sophia, Jack, Gabe, Noah, Zach, Emily, Maddie, Abby and Luke. Ed considered all of them as one family. He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas W. (Denice) Daniel of Bascom; Michael V. (Deb) of Tiffin; sisters, Anna (Fred) Elchert of New Riegel; Evelyn Daniel of Tiffin; Kathleen (William) Meyer of Arcadia; Mary (Wayne) Groweg of Gibsonburg; Victoria (Patrick) Lauer of Tiffin and a sister in law, Doris Daniel of Sycamore.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Shirley and a brother, George J. Daniel.
Ed was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was past president of the Parish Council and St. Joseph School Board and a 1964 graduate of Tiffin Calvert. After graduating, he worked for Leo Schoen building houses from 1964-1965 and in the evenings for ITT in 1965 until being drafted into the U.S. Army serving abroad in Korea and honorably discharged in 1967. In 1967 he started farming and raising livestock for many years. Ed was past president of the Tiffin Farmers Board, enjoyed playing Euchre, farming, raising his girls and loved his church and family. He was a member of VFW Post 2858 and American Legion Post, 354 in New Riegel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Jospeh Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors by the United Veterans Council. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 2-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.
