Edward C. "Ed" Runion, 83, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday morning, September 10, 2013 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born on August 3, 1930, in Genoa, Ohio, to Carl and Viola (Taylor) Runion, Sr. On February 1, 1954, he married Sonja Hahler, his beloved wife of 58 years, and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2012.
Survivors include 3 sons, Edward A. (Cheri) Runion and John R. Runion, both of Tiffin, and Mark A. (Carol) Runion of Fort Seneca; 1 brother, Gerald Runion of Tiffin; 3 sisters, Ida Bell, Alice Fitch and Rita Fitch, all of Tiffin; 4 grandchildren, Jason Runion, Brandi Stewart, Eric (Jessica) Runion and Brock Runion; six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Zach, Autumn, Keely, Nicolas and T.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Carl, Kenny, Dale, Lyle and Dick Runion; and 2 sisters, Gloria Fitch and Carol Angelbeck.
Ed served in the United States Army from July 12, 1946 to April 11, 1953 and was a truck driver for Mohawk & Central Transport; retiring in 1987. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2858, enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing, bowling and was a fan of Jimmie Johnson and Cleveland Sports. Ed loved his wife and family.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Fairmont Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by the United Veteran's Council.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Seneca County.
