Obituary

Edwin "Ed" Loesser, Sr., 84, of Tiffin, passed away Friday afternoon, January 30, 2015 at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.

He was born on August 6, 1930, in Tiffin, Ohio, to John J. and Mary C. (Fredritz) Loesser. On December 30, 1961 he married Rita Lou Gosche and she survives in Republic.

Survivors also include 2 sons, Eddie Loesser, Jr. of Republic, Richard Loesser of San Francisco, CA; 4 daughters, Margaret "Peg" Loesser of Jacksonville, FL, Mary Huffman of Tiffin, Ann Therese (Rian) Myers of Republic, Rachel (Scott) Gregory of Alvada, OH; 6 brothers, , Paul (Lois), Jim (Ruth), Tom (Rita) Loesser all of Tiffin, Arthur (Pat) Loesser of Troy, MI, Dave Loesser of Roseville, MI, Bill (Chris) Loesser of Charlotte, NC; 2 sisters, Margaret Elchert of Tiffin, Ann Kummerer of Toledo; 10 grandchildren, Katharyn Armbruster, John Micheliche, Rian Jr., Randal, and Rita Myers, Abigail and Christine Huffman, Grace, Sara, and Evan Gregory; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler and Katelynn Armbruster, Alissa Mendenhall, Arden Englehart, Emily and Eli Myers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ed graduated from Calvert High School in 1948. Ed proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was discharged as an EM1. He worked for many years at Webster Manufacturing and retired from Fostoria Seneca Wire in 2005.

Ed was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, the DAV, American Legion, and the VFW. In 1976, Ed helped the recruiting in Seneca County, and was awarded with a plaque from the Navy recruiting headquarters. He was past-president of Tiffin Eagles, was a devoted catholic, and served as a lay minister for many years at St. Aloysius and St. Mary parishes. Most recently, he was a member of Tiffin, St. Joseph. Ed's favorite pastime was talking and laughing with his wife and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed enjoyed sharing his love of God, family and sweets with his family. He could often be found sitting around the campfire sharing a beer with family and friends. It is the image we ask you to remember.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. on February 5, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will be private at a later date in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on February 4, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 8:00 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools or a local Food Bank.
