Eleanor M. "Ellie" Amann, 87, of Tiffin, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born in Sandusky, Ohio to Henry C. and Eleanor (Hinde) Millott on October 7, 1929. On September 28, 1957, she married Frederick J. Amann.
She graduated from Sandusky High School, received her Bsc. Biology Degree from College of St. Elizabeth, Morristown, NJ and then obtained registry as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) after a internship at the Institute of Pathology at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, She was happily married to Frederick J. Amann and they made their home in Tiffin, Ohio for 52 years before Fred's death.
Fred and Ellie are survived by four wonderful children, Karen (Ted) Haugh of Tiffin, Mary Beth Amann Irving of Tiffin, David (Terri) Amann of Findlay and Dianne (Darren) Clemente of North Royalton; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Ellie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Lt. Col James and Mary (Rice) Millott, Richard and Elizabeth (Smith) Millott, Henry C. Millott, Jr., and Terrence and Betty Gene (Donahue) Millott. Also two sisters, Patricia Millott and Mary Millott (George) Leingang.
Ellie used her education for her Career in hospital laboratories in Sandusky, Galion and Tiffin and really felt blessed to be doing work that she felt was important to the patients she was able to help.
She was active in her parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was Past president of the Rosary Altar Society and spent many years working and supporting the parish festival . She completed the Diocesan Lay Ministry Formation program a couple of years before her retirement from Mercy Hospital which allowed her to volunteer as a Pastoral Care aide at Mercy. She was also Eucharistic Minister to hospital patients, nursing home patients and the homebound . Ellie was also a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fred and Ellie were blessed with great long time friendships; their couples bridge club was able to be together for over 50 years of fun, caring and support for each other . After moving to a condo, it was an opportunity to join with more friends and activities, knitting group, bible study group, good potlucks and social times.
She always felt that she was truly blessed thoroughout her life with family and friends, strong faith in our loving God and the many opportunities he has given to practice that faith.
Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral at Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Calvert Catholic Schools.
