Elizabeth M. "Betty" Scheiber, 89, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, November 17, 2013 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born on March 7, 1924 in Tiffin, Ohio, to Stanley L. and Erna (Rust) Patterson. On June 1, 1946 she married James "Jim" Scheiber and he preceded her in death on the same day four years earlier on November 17, 2009.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Stephen L Scheiber of Tiffin and Timothy J. (Suzanne) Scheiber of Ormond Beach, FL; daughter, Patricia A. (James) Homan of Tiffin; 2 sisters, Doris Hartman of Canal Winchester and Jane Frankenberg of Worthington, OH; sister-in- law, Correne Moran of Dayton, OH; 3 grandchildren, Amanda L. Harper, Kevin J. Scheiber, and Julie E. Cholodewitsch; and 2 great grandchildren, Kayden and Emily.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, William Scheiber in 1993; and brother, Robert Patterson.
Betty graduated in 1942 from Tiffin Columbian High School, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a past member of the Altar Rosary Society. After graduating, she worked at Ohio Bell and then at Dr. Consolo's Dentist office and at Tiffin Developmental Center as an aide for many years. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed bowling, golfing, walking, crossword puzzles, knitting, bird and deer watching, card clubs and was a sports fan. She was also a member of the "42 Club" with girls from her graduating class.
Her funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will begin at 3:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church Raise the Roof Campaign, St. Francis Home Activities Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
