Obituary

Ernest Hill, 87, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, February 22, 2011, at his home surrounded by family.

On January 30, 1924, in Tiffin, he was born to Ernest and Florence Mae (Blackwell) Hill. He married Muriel J. Culver on February 23, 1947, at Washington Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Muriel; son, Glen (Edana Carter) Hill of Tiffin; daughters, Diane Hill of Sylvania; Lisa (Lee) Einsel of Washington, D.C.; Amy Hill of Tiffin; 5 grandchildren, Holly Hite and Heather Ody, Jake, Brock, and Weston Hill; 3 great grandchildren, Collin and Cameron Hite, and Garrett Ody.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Hill; and a sister, Mary McIntyre.

Ernest was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, VFW Post 2858, and a 1942 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during WWII in the South Pacific. He worked as a caster at American Standard for 40 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, yard work, traveling and more golfing.

Ernest's wishes were to be cremated and no service or burial.
