Ernest F. Wise, Sr. 94, of rural Tiffin, passed away Monday morning, December 5, 2011 at his home after a long illness.
On March 22, 1917 in Tiffin, he was born to Charles and Clara (Willis) Wise. He married Ila Martin and she preceded him in death. On September 10, 1954 he married Virginia "Ginnie" Painter.
Survivors include his wife Ginnie of 57 years; a son, Ernie (Carol) Wise, Jr. and a daughter, Betsy (Kevin) Kistler both of rural Tiffin; 3 grandchildren, Brian (Kathy) Kistler, David (Kristen) Wise and Brandon Kistler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ila, brothers, John, Richard, Dwight and Virgil, and a sister, Martha.
Ernest was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and a 1935 graduate of Old Fort High School. He farmed, raised cattle and in the early 1970's, started his own heating and plumbing business. He was able to fix anything and always willing to help others. While in FFA, he earned his State Farmer Degree, a member of the Seneca County Farm Bureau, founding member of the planning committee for Seneca County Habitat for Humanity. Ernest loved raising his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
A funeral service will be Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Seneca County Habitat for Humanity.
