Eugene A. "Gene" Waltz, 80, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday morning, December 07, 2023 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

He was born on February 13, 1943, in Bloomville, Ohio, to John W. and Mabel E. (Thiery) Waltz.  On May 27, 1967, he married Carolyn "Sue" Bernard.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn "Sue" Waltz of Tiffin; son, Jeff (Laura) Waltz of Delaware; daughter, Gina (Brian) Bennett of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Julia Waltz, Annie Waltz, Nicholas Bennett, Michael (Marissa) Bennett and Gabrielle (Adric) Stombaugh; 2 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Jacoby and Brian Stombaugh and Mila Bennett due December 21st.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sheldon Waltz; and sister, Betty Schuman.

Gene was a 1961 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and attended Tiffin University.  He served in the United States Navy from August 30, 1961 to August 11, 1965 and worked in personnel at Excello in Fostoria for a few years and at American Standard for over 30 years.  After retirement, he worked security at Mercy Hospital.  He was a member St. Mary Catholic Church and the Tiffin Lions Club, where he was past president, volunteered in many positions, attended many of their conventions and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award.  Gene enjoyed going to the beach, watching his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his friends and family.

His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
