Eugene F. "Gene" Tracy, 68, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, May 16, 2010 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on June 9, 1941 in Webster Springs, WV to Hersel and Lola (Cogar) Tracy.

Survivors include Patricia Tracy of Tiffin; a son, Ryan (Lisa) Tracy of Tiffin; a daughter, Robin Grauel of Omaha, NE; 4 grandsons, Tyler and Logan Tracy of Tiffin; Derek (Angie) Grauel and Jaaron Grauel of Omaha, NE; 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Cathy (Stan) Neff of Utah; Connie (Steve) Largen of WA; 2 sisters, Marjorie Ford of Fairfield Glade, TN; Kirt Swander of Ashland, OH; and a brother, Bill Tracy of Fort Seneca.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and a daughter, Cindy Averill.

Gene moved to Tiffin in 1959 and was talented and self employed for many years. He owned and operated Tracy's Roofing and Spouting as well as Tracy's Excavating. He was a member of Marion Labor's Local # 574 for 30 years, retiring in 2002. Gene enjoyed many outdoor activities. Some of his favorite included deer hunting with family and friends, sponsoring and playing in several local men's softball leagues and especially watching his grandsons play baseball. He always looked forward to attending the yearly reunion on Point Mountain in his home state of West Virginia.

A funeral service will be Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11:00 am at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Michael McClurg officiating. Burial will follow at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 4-8 pm and on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 10-11 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to FACT, Bridge Hospice of Findlay or to Tiffin "D" League Baseball.
