Evelyn L. Free, 92, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, February 5, 2017 at St. Francis Home.

She was born on November 16, 1924, in Tiffin, to Victor and Edith (Hoerig) Thom. On November 28, 1947, in Angola, IN, she married George F. Free and he preceded her in death in 1996.

Survivors include her son, Bob (Kathy) Free of Tiffin; daughter, Linda (Bill) Miller of Tiffin; 7 grandchildren, Raymond Sears, Dr. Christopher Sears, Jonathon Sears, Jennifer Franz, Christy Vera, Jill Miller and Bradley Free; and 17 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Edna Hartman, Anna Newman and Dorothy Logsdon; and great grandson, Carson Free.

Evelyn graduated in 1943 from Tiffin Calvert High School. After high school, she started working at Sterling Grinding Wheel, where she met her husband, George. She later retired as a welder from General Electric after 18 years. She enjoyed crafts, canning, cross-stitch, fishing with her grandchildren and fishing in Canada and sewing; making many clothes for her family. Evelyn was very independent, lived at Friedman Village and later at St. Francis Home.

Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the funeral home.
