Evelyn Louise Smothers, 92, of Tiffin, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Elmwood at the Shawhan.

She was born on April 25, 1923, in Amity, Ohio, to Smith and Abanna (Cunningham) Pealer. On January 27, 1952 she married Ralph Smothers and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2014.

Survivors include her son, Ralph C. (Julie) Smothers II of Tiffin; daughter, Sue (Henry) Smothers-Montgomery of Apple Valley; four grandchildren, Ralph "Will" Smothers III, Sean Smothers, Lucille Smothers and Lacey Montgomery; two sisters, Lois Ann (Milan) Senokozlieff of Perrysville and Joan (David) Conway of Canfield.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Alvin Pealer; and two sisters, Joyce Workman and Dorothy Farmer.

Evelyn was a graduate of Amity High School and Mt. Vernon Business Academy. On May 15, 1950, Evelyn and her husband, Ralph started Ralph's Maytag and the store is still thriving today as Ralph's Joy of Living. She enjoyed traveling with friends, golfing, playing Bridge, flowers, gardens, dancing, shopping and loved to laugh; especially at her husband's jokes. Evelyn was a "party planner" who enjoyed giving cooking and ironing demonstrations at the store. She loved life, was very adventurous and was the "tower of strength in the family".

Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.

Her Memorial Service will be at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with Minister Kurt Gallmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
