Obituary

Evelyn I. Weller, 91, of rural Tiffin, passed away Monday morning, August 26, 2013, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria.


She was born May 22, 1922, in Tiffin, to George A. and Elma Ann (Hartzel) Walter. She married Harris J. Weller on February 13, 1941 and he precedes her in death.


Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Ron) Roby and Kristi (Richard) Glanz, both of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Jason (Stacie) Roby of Findlay, Christopher (Lisa) Glanz of Loveland, Kara (Dale) Sentle of Pemberville, Jenise (Klint) Tompkins of North Field and Lorne (Karen) Roby of Perrysburg; five great-grandchildren, Sean Roby, Sayla Tompkins, Danielle Roby, Lily Roby, Laney Glanz, and Camryn Glanz.


Preceding her in death is her parents; husband; 4 brothers, Clyde Robert, Orville, Donald and Kenneth Walter; sister, Lucille Bowersox; and a great-grandchild.

Evelyn was a 1940 graduate of the first class of Hopewell Loudon High School. She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Faithful Followers Sunday School Class and was a member of the Woman's fellowship. Evelyn worked on the farm with her husband Harris for years, worked at Hopewell Loudon School in the cafeteria for 30 years and a ticket taker at the athletic events for 40 years. She was a 4H advisor for over 50 years and a member of Junior Fair Foundation. She loved her husband, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and cherished many years of Sunday dinners and picnics. Evelyn is listed in the Hopewell Loudon Hall of Fame for service to the school and was honored by the Northwest District Athletic Association and the Ohio High School Association.


Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Union United Church of Christ, 575 N. Ash St., Bascom. Burial will follow in Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom.


Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 4-8 pm at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, (419)-447-2424.

Memorial contributions can be made to Union United Church of Christ, Seneca County Junior Fair Foundation or Hopewell-Loudon Heritage Fund.
