Obituary

Francis C. Reiter, 84, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday evening, February 1, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

He was born on November 2, 1931, in Seneca County, to Harry and Olive (Reinhart) Reiter. On June 1, 1957, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Kirby, Ohio he married Elizabeth Frey.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Tiffin; two sons, Jim Reiter of Tiffin and Mark Reiter of Toledo; two daughters, Sharon (Norm) Smigielski of Lebanon and Danette (Craig) Scaife of Tiffin; brother, Luke Reiter of Tiffin; sister, Alice (Bob) Seiche of Milan; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, W. John Reiter; and four sisters, Anna Mae Reiter, Florence Ringle, Ruth Roessner and Dorothy McKinnon.

Francis graduated in 1949 from Tiffin Calvert High School, attended The Ohio State University and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and later in the Reserves. He retired from Webster Mfg. after forty plus years as a pricing clerk and was a member of their Retirement Club. After retiring, he helped with Meals on Wheels for several years. He was a Red Cross blood donor and volunteered at BINGO at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Francis enjoyed square dancing, mushroom hunting, yard work, gardening, history, bowling, collecting antique bottles and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 8:00 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Calvert Catholic Schools.
