Fred Corbin, 73, of Tiffin passed away on Saturday, June 08, 2013 at his home.
He was born on April 03, 1940, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Eugene W. and Neva Jean (Neate) Corbin. On September 10, 1961, he "Tied the Knot" with Barbara Tucker.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years; two sisters; Sandra Preston of Upper Sandusky, OH; Deborah (Bob) Raico of Mentor, OH; two brothers in law, Tom (Judy) Tucker of Fremont, OH; Tim (Angie) Tucker of Castalia, OH; nieces and nephews, Kim (Tony) Rohrs, Mike (Deb) Preston, Brian (Jamie) Raico, Mark (Leah) Raico, Trent, Tia, Tiffany, Tatum, and Tyler Tucker. Fred and Barb were never blessed with children; however their nieces, nephews, and cousins kept them young and active.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Fred was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a 1958 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. After graduation he spent two years at BGSU and in 1961 was fortunate to get into an industrial engineering program at National Machinery Co. where he spent 10 years, seven of those as a plant engineer. Together Fred and his wife formed Corbin Corporation, Inc. in January 1973 as an industrial supply company located in Tiffin, Maumee, and Kingsport TN. In 1998 they were approached by MSC and closed the deal on February 22, 1999. He then retired one year later in February of 2000.
Fred was as passionate about flying as he was with his business and in 1968 he received his pilot's license from Tiffin Aire and enjoyed flying his Cheyenne II propjet for business and personal trips. He loved spending time at Lake Erie and the surrounding areas and boating on his 55 Ft. Sea Ray. Fred was a member of Mohawk Country Club and the Catawba Island Club for many years and treasurer for their Catawba Island Association. He was a Founding Member, Trustee, and an Officer for the Charles D. "Bud" Hering, Jr. Foundation which he supported and held closely their generosity to the community.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Pastor Hannah Tucker officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M on Tuesday June 11, 2013 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Community Hospice Care, Seneca County Human Society, or Charles D. "Bud" Hering, Jr. Foundation.
