Frederick C. McDole, 87, of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born on June 22, 1939, in Findlay, Ohio, to Willard and Martha (Gary) McDole. On September 29, 1962, he married Shirley Sines and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2018.

Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly (John) Chowning of Cookeville, TN and Judith (Dan) Sherman of Tiffin; son, Scott (Andrea) McDole of Tiffin; brother, Richard (Gin) McDole of Tiffin; ten grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Micah (Shelby), Luke (Abby) and Joshua (Rachel) Chowning; Kaleb, Kaitlin and Kenadie Sherman; and Abigail and Michael McDole; and seven great grandchildren, Lizzie, Nora, Teddy, James, Thomas, Jack and Arlo.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Tonia Sue McDole; brother, Joseph McDole; sisters, Sharon Nominee, Sandy Golden, Patricia Dotson and Suzanne McDole.

Fred served in the United States Army from June 27, 1956 to June 07, 1962 and then in the National Guard from 1981 to 1996. He owned Seneca Vacuum & Cleaners for over 25 years. In the summer of 1978, Fred started coaching girls fastpitch softball, eventually taking over as commissioner of the league. In the mid 1980’s, he began coaching Babe Ruth baseball and became president of the league until 2006. He continued to coach in the Tiffin Youth Sports Association, retiring in 2018. Fred was a member of the Tiffin Eagles #402, was a Cleveland Indians fan and loved military history,

His Funeral Service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 03, 2026 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with his son-in-law, John Chowning officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.
