Obituary

Gary Allen Larsen, 77, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical, Toledo.

He was born February 10, 1933, in Big Rapids, MI, to Kenneth W. and Mildred (Heaton) Larsen. He married Fredericka Matteson September 7, 1957, in Grand Rapids, MI.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred; his wife of 53 years, Freddie, both of Tiffin; a son, Gary W. (Susan) Larsen of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Janice Sue (Michael) Gonzalez of El Paso, Texas; and Sandy (Matthew) Witmer of Seville, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth (Linda) Larsen of Rockford, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is his father.

Gary graduated from Big Rapids HS in 1951 and from Michigan Tech in 1955 as a chemical engineer. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir and served on various boards and committees.

He proudly served his country in the US Army. In 1968, he moved to Tiffin and worked at Basic Refracatories, as a chemical engineer, until 1981. Most recently he worked at Neo Wood products and then was a consultant. He was an avid reader, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He enjoyed a good day's work, and helped Habitat for Humanity for many years. He was a member of Heidelberg Community Chorus.

He and his wife traveled to Manila, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and all over the United States. He liked spending time in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and cross country skiing.

His Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 131 E. Perry St., Tiffin, with Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may visit with the family 5-8 PM, Monday, December 27, or 10-11 AM, Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Trinity United Church of Christ.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United Church or Trinity Music Fund, or Habitat for Humanity.
