Gene J. Reiter, Jr. 75, of Tiffin, USN Retired, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Mercy Health-St. Vincent Hospital.

He was born on January 15, 1950, in Fostoria, to Gene J., Sr. and Gloria J. (Morgan) Reiter.

He is survived by his son, Shane (Sandee) Reiter and family Florida; stepchildren, especially Anna Marie; sisters, Giselle Kuhn of Colorado; Genise (Randy) Swander of Canton; half sister, Lydia Wild of Australia; numerous nieces and nephews that loved him and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Georgette and Jerry Shiets and brother-in-law, Peter Kuhn.

Gene was a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and enlisted in the United States Navy and after 21 years of service, he was honorably retired.  He then served as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes and across Europe until he chose a quiet fulltime retirement back home in Tiffin.  He was a proud member of American Legion and other Veteran organizations.  He loved his family, country, and would do anything to help family and friends.

We cherished the time we had with him knowing he is in God's grace and comfort.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local Veteran's organization.
